*blink* Oh look it’s already Monday night. We’ve survived the first day back at school, and we even made it to school on time (winner!) But where the hell did the half term go?! It honestly feels like a typical weekend off school has gone by, not a whole week! Having said that, we have had quite a nice half term. Well, I think so anyway.
As I’ve said before, I’m not really that organised. As much as I try, it just doesn’t happen for me. Although, I did try to plan a few things for the half term, more for my sanity than the kids I think! There’s only so many days I can stand being confined to the four walls of our house with CBeebies on all day, everyday…
We started out by organising with Lily’s mum what days she’d have Lily, and then Nanny arranged a sleepover too! Boom, that’s 4 days knocked out already! 5 to go…
This half term, our town welcomes “The Mart.” Sounds a bit weird, but it’s actually a travelling fun fair! It’s been coming to our hometown for over 500 years, so it’d be rude not to go at least once right? There are a range of rides, varying for different ages, and lots of side stalls (hook-a-duck/knock down the cans etc) and my favourite bit: the sweet stalls! Lily loves to go, so we pencilled it in, and then we were asked to join some of her school friends on “children’s day” (where all the rides are half price!) We had such a lovely time! I do try to avoid going too often, as it can get quite expensive…and it doesn’t always bring out the best crowds of people.
So…come on Becky! You said you’re being organised, what did your half term look like then?
Saturday: Play day at an indoor soft play “Planet Zoom” with some school friends.
Sunday: Rest day for the kids, catching up on housework for me!
Monday: Lily went to her mums in the morning, William and I had another “rest day” – I caught up on more housework.
Tuesday: Lily still away until the evening, William and I did bugger all again.
Wednesday: William went to grandmas for a play, Lily and I went to the Mart with school friends, then back to grandmas for dinner.
Thursday: Daddy had a day off! *hallelujah!* A relaxed morning, then a trip to the beach in the afternoon for a walk and dinner!
Friday: The kids and I went to nanny’s for the day, Lily had a sleepover.
Saturday: Lily still at nanny’s, William spent most of the day “napping” (is 3hrs+ classed as napping?)
Sunday: Daddy’s day off again! Over to Nanny’s for a Sunday Roast.
So there we are, a nice relaxed time off – just what a holiday should be! And what better way to finish it off than with a home cooked roast? Thanks Nanny! Same time next week?
Although sometimes I wish I could do more, but my trouble is, I don’t have a car. Yes I know there’s public transport but I don’t enjoy the day if I know its on a time limit, and have you ever tried to get a bus with a pushchair? I don’t mind local travelling by bus, but I want to visit other places in Norfolk. (It’s also hard when you’re a SAHM and you have the time to think of all these great plans, and your partner is in full-time work and doesn’t have the time off to do it with you.) I don’t know where we’ll be with regards to a car in the summer hols, but I may have to bite the bullet and make use of the bus…
I did feel a little bit bad that William and I pretty much just stayed in a lot of the time, and I’m going to blame the slightly cold weather. I don’t enjoy feeling cold (does anyone?) and honestly, I couldn’t really think of anything other than the park that was free to do? Maybe in the next holidays I’ll be more prepared and *organised* (ha) and find some things to do!
What did you get up to in the half term? Next up; Pancake day!
