No, not that C-word. Calm your pants, I’m on about the other C-word.
Christmas.
Now really. We’ve only just hit October, so yes…I can appreciate people want to get organised and start their shopping (which, in all honesty is probably a good idea) but shops have had decorations and advent calendars out since September! As soon as the slightest whisper of Summer ending was uttered, BAM! We were hit with Santa’s Grotto everywhere you looked with chocolate and tinsel overflowing out of shop doors. I’m sure it won’t be long before Michael Buble awakens with his Christmas Album for us all to enjoy.
I’m all for being organised, (well…the idea of being organised is appealing, getting me to actually be organised is a whole different story!) but where is all the Halloween kit? It’s slowly seeping into the shops now, but that’s a heck of a lot sooner than Christmas is and I’ve yet to see any Halloween dressing up outfits…At this rate Lily will be trick or treating as an old fashioned bedsheet ghost! Not only do we have Halloween to get through, but I have Lily’s birthday to sort out (feck. I really need to do that.) and pop a baby out too! So forgive me for feeling anti-festive at this moment in time.
In spite of all my anti-festiveness in this post, I do see the logical side to it all, and it makes sense to get organised beforehand as then it’ll leave December to actually enjoy the festivities instead of worrying about last minute presents and food to buy. Plus it’s also a lot kinder to your bank balance to spread the cost throughout the year as opposed to one massive spree in November (which will be me. Even though I told myself I wouldn’t do that again this year. I’m hopeless.) But perhaps we could ease up on the invasion of Christmas in the shops until at least the end of October? Am I asking too much?
Perhaps next year I’ll be that person who buys all their Christmas presents in the January Sales. (hahaha, I make myself laugh, this won’t be me!) – I take my hat off to these people, because I struggle to find places to store our crap throughout the year as it is, let alone all the new gifts from Christmas and presents to give next year! Honestly, kudos to you.
So, could we please get October out of the way before mentioning the C-word again? Am I being too anti-festive? What’s your view on it? Are you Will Ferrell from Elf, or Ebeneezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol?
Becky x

Wilkinsons has a fantastic halloween selection. I do get wherr your coming from though. Christmas food in the shops is fine, some people like to buy bit by bit to ease the budget. Decorstions, cards etc should be out of sight until after halloween x

HAHA I love Christmas!!! It is a little early to get stuff out but I think we should begin thinking about what we will do, like christmas photoshoots, matching PJ’s, festive activities. You sound like you have a lot on, Halloween, Birthday and Christmas!!! I wish you all the best! I also wish I was that person that got everything in the Januaury Sales

Omg, yes, we went to the local garden centre at the weekend. There were decorations everywhere. Cygnet (my son) was getting excited. I was getting weary. Pen x #mondaystumble

Ah yeah, I hadn’t even thought of the kids perspective! (I haven’t taken my eldest into town in the shops recently…) but it’ll soon be, “how many days until Christmas? is it soon?” etc…it soon wears you down! x

I’m totally with you! I don’t want to see Christmas yet, thank you very much! I get that people want to budget and buy early, that’s fine! We still don’t need to see shops full of decorations.

But being on a budget, buying stuff early is a good thing sometimes . just so i dont have to splash out at last minute on decorations etc. #TriumphantTales
