My Blogs First Anniversary.

A year ago today, Bringing up the Berney’s came to life. (Here’s my first ever post!)

I set this blog up in an effort to record the lives of my children and family living. I wanted to be able to share our lives with family and friends, and have a communal place where I could share my photos with more information on what was happening in them with everyone. Recently I’ve fallen off the wagon a little as I’ve had my hands full with two little munchkins and limited sleep, but I’m working on getting more content out this year! I honestly had no idea how much went into putting a post together, or how much time it could/would take up.

I remember sitting on the sofa with a notepad and pen, trying to figure out what I could name my blog and what it’s tagline would be. I knew it was going to be based around the family and our adventures, so I wanted to tie that into the name, alongside hinting that it was a parent blog.  I spent days pondering over it, and narrowed it down to a few other names, but I kept coming back to this one, and I knew this was what I wanted to name my blog!

When I set up my blog, I was clueless as to what I was doing (still am for the most part…) I wanted to get up and running with it, so I had a quick browse of the various themes and layouts, and after playing around with a few, picked one I liked the most. Eventually I’d like to have a good sit down and have a thorough look through them all and find one that I love. This was also the case for my header/banner. With absolutely no idea how to use photoshop or any design program, I found a website to create this very basic header, which again, I’d eventually like to change it up a bit and add some colour to it!

My very badly drawn logo…(which now I need a new one!)

I also didn’t realise how big the blogging community is! I quickly learned just how many there are out there when I set up my twitter page. I’ve met many great bloggers over this past year on there and it’s truly been wonderful being able to share and talk to other parents from all over, and being the nosey-noo that I am, I love being able to read about other families and their lives.

I’ve learned a lot about blogging over the past year, it’s not a simple case of writing your post and putting a few photos in. So much goes on behind the screens! (see what I did there? hah!) I’ve still a long way to go be where I’d like with it, I need to start putting more time into it and knuckle down and actually write something instead of “doing it in a minute” (which ends up becoming a week/month heh…) To be honest I’m rather surprised I’ve managed to stick it out for a year. I’m really good at starting projects and never finishing them! I know I’ve had times where I haven’t been as active, and posts were few and far between – but I’m still here, and still going! And for that I’m proud of myself!

I’d like to thank every one of you who have taken the time to read my posts, share them, like/comment on them, follow me on my social media or just generally supporting me in anyway! I am only a little blogger, but every engagement I get makes me smile and happy to know people are reading my posts. If you’re an avid reader, I’d love to know which post(s) you’ve enjoyed the most, or what you’d like to read more about! If you’re a newcomer, then welcome! I hope you enjoy what you find on here 🙂

Bringing up the Berney’s is my way of keeping family and friends in the loop with our lives, and I’m happy to have everyone along for the ride. So once again, thank you for being there and I hope 2018 will be another successful year for us!

You can find us over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. (I’ve yet to suss out Pinterest, perhaps by next year I’ll have mastered it!?)
